Real Glamour Blog, Finn Carlow - Starting Young
For as long as he can remember, Finn has enjoyed, and been interested in, what he puts on
He will choose the day’s outfit according to mood and when he’s feeling less bouyant his clothes will be more about comfort than impact, perhaps because the wearing of an outfit that has been carefully thought out demands an element of performance. On certain days something less eye catching is more suited to how he feels.
Finn loves the fashions of the sixties and seventies in the same way that some people are drawn to the music of those times. For him a combining of styles from both decades allows the particular form of self-expression he needs to do, achieving the kind of “cool” that he’s after.
I asked Finn how he might feel if he was required to wear something that didn’t suit him.
He said that he would feel less visible and less interesting.
In the days when he had to wear school uniform he would always do something to make the regulation outfit his own.
Surfaces and appearances are important, we judge the world by them, we judge ourselves by them, we make decisions based on them
What we choose to wear is always significant and always interesting.
Thank you to Finn Carlow for taking part
I spotted him at the Newhaven Festival Thrift Fashion show last summer where he runwayed with such style that I resolved to work with him again.
Real Glamour is when you enjoy your self in your clothes. That’s what Finn does.
