It's hard to explain your business to someone else, to you it's a huge and complex thing
Putting that into words is my particular super power. I’ll work out exactly what you’re trying to say and find a way to say that for the web. I will take beautiful photographs too.
How do you choose a website designer?
Making a website should be a thoughtful, revealing, collaborative process.
It works best when the small details, the particularity, of a business are discovered. A good website designer will know how to take that information and communicate it through typefaces, colours, images and the kind of content that says what it needs to and nothing more. A website designer must know about visitor inference and realise that no one wants to be sold to, most people want to work things out for themselves.
Emotional Design
Human beings generally make decisions based on emotion and intuition and then find ways to rationalise those decisions. Understanding this is key to making an effective, alluring website. It’s the instant chemistry, the moment that the visitor decides to trust what they see because what they see is real, original, authentic, helpful and informative.
Photography
Your website’s visitors will infer a high quality business when they see beautiful, professional photographs that have been taken specially for the website, not borrowed from a library
My photography is distinctive, fresh, extremely high quality, and full of character.
Why I love making websites
I began my working life as a portrait photographer, making a living because I was good at bringing out the best in people. Eleven years ago, Jules Asch of The Silvery asked me to make her a brochure using photographs I’d already taken of her jewellery. She liked it. She asked if I could make her a website. I’m a self employed person (good at seizing opportunities) so I said “Yes” and then taught myself how to do it.
I discovered that portrait photography and websites require similar approaches and skills. Curiosity is key. Additionally, my own need for the world to be a calm place that I can decipher easily means that my websites are easy to navigate, uncluttered, kind.
Beauty is a simple thing. It’s the essence of something
Your website should connect you to the people that need you. We begin the process by identifying what is particular about you, why you want to do what you do, and who you need to connect with. Once we know this out we’ll find the most attractive, effective, efficient way of explaining your business to the world.
